As our Kenya safari drew to a close, we were all a little disappointed that we hadn't seen a leopard in the Masai Mara. These big cats are difficult to spot. Those of us continuing on to the Tanzania safari were keeping our fingers crossed for a leopard sighting there.
And it didn't take long - in the early morning of our first game drive in the Serengeti, we spotted this guy breakfasting on a gazelle.
Leopards frequently drag their kill up into a tree to protect it from scavenging hyenas.
Two spotted hyenas were pacing impatiently directly below the leopard.
When he was done, he took a nap. And I drove away feeling that my safari had been complete!
